In 1999, the Center for Technology and Business was founded in Bismarck, North Dakota, supported by grants from the U.S. Small Business Administration and the North Dakota Department of Commerce. Our initial goal was to develop simplified computer materials for use in rural small businesses and to teach business owners to utilize technology as a business tool. Since that time, more than 17,000 rural North Dakotans have learned how to use computers, hooked up to the Internet, and significantly increased rural employment options. The economic impact to the state and our rural communities has been phenomenal!!!
The North Dakota Women's Business Center is partially funded by a grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). North Dakota Department of Commerce provides state matching funds.
The SBA's Office of Women's Business Ownership (OWBO) is the only federal government office charged to help women become full partners in economic development through small business ownership. OWBO provides programs to support women entrepreneurs from business start-up to expansion through a variety of services and resources.
Women throughout the country can log into the OWBO Home Page: www.sba.gov/womeninbusiness
