Denise Spanjer
Director
The Center for Technology & Business is funded jointly by the U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Women's Business Ownership and the North Dakota Department of Commerce.
From 2003-2008, Denise served as CTB’s Technology Education Administrator. Prior to that, she assisted rural businesses as a development specialist for the RE&T Development Center of Mandan. For more than 18 years she directed the statewide education program for North Dakota Farmers Union in Jamestown.
Denise is an active community member participating in Bismarck Rotary Club, Meyers’ Toastbusters, Mandan Golf Association and Railway Credit Union. She is a graduate of North Dakota State University and a native of Edgeley, ND. She spends her leisure time playing golf, gardening, fishing and reading.
In 2004, she was recognized by the U.S. Small Business Administration as "North Dakota's Outstanding Women's Business Advocate."
Cindy Sanford
State Outreach Specialist
Cindy provides technical assistance and support for North Dakota’s small businesses and workforce.
She is responsible CTB’s statewide community trainer team and locating workforce training resources for rural communities and businesses. CTB and local community trainers have provided computer training to more than 18,500 rural adults in the state.
After a management career with Marriott Corporation, the NDSU graduate returned to North Dakota in 1996. Since her return, Cindy has been active in rural economic development having worked as the coordinator for the Rural Economic Area Partnership (REAP). In addition, she was involved in the School-To-Work program, and coordinated Dickinson State University extended campus in Bismarck and the Bismarck State College’s (BSC) four-year energy program.
Active in the Bismarck/Mandan Chamber, Cindy chairs the Business Education Partnership Committee, co-chairs the Chamber’s Ethics Day, and is a Junior Achievement volunteer. She is an adjunct instructor with BSC, volunteers with local schools, is involved with her church and an active supporter of her children’s music, sports and school activities.
Catherine Dalzell
Marketing and Education Coordinator
Catherine provides leadership for the North Dakota Young Professionals Network coordinating day-to-day activities and creating strategies for the attraction and retention of Young Professionals into North Dakota’s workforce.
While at CTB, Catherine initiated the Rural Young Professionals movement in the state and organized the state’s existing community based Young Professionals Networks into the North Dakota Young Professionals Network. As a result, more than 1,200 young North Dakota Professionals have access to professional development, social occasions and opportunities for volunteer service.
Catherine also works with the design of brochures, marketing material, rural development, and computer training.
She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Dickinson State University with a Baccalaureate degree in University Studies. She also earned her Associate in Applied Science degree in Commercial Art from Bismarck State College, graduating as Outstanding Student in Commercial Art.
Catherine is an active photographer, volunteer with Dakota Stage Ltd., and recently joined the BSC Alumni Foundation Board which supports alumni outreach.
